Motivation & Goals

This initiative aims to establish a network of industry partners, including start-ups, SMEs, and research institutions, to develop and implement a demonstrator for a quantum-safe communication link in the Baltic Sea region. The focus is on achieving quantum-safe key exchange between nodes, leveraging existing technologies rather than developing new ones.
The demonstrator will connect key hubs in Germany, Poland, and Lithuania, such as Berlin, Poznań, Warsaw, Gdańsk, and Vilnius, integrating fibre-based and free-space QKD communication. Free-space segments are essential to bypass geopolitical challenges in a Russian enclave, with the potential inclusion of secure space links. This functional platform will support testing, evaluation, and learning, paving the way for the European quantum communication infrastructure.

These partners are already benefiting from the collaboration:

We are looking
for you!

We are seeking innovators, experts, and stakeholders to join us in building a cutting-edge quantum key distribution (QKD) link in the Baltic Sea region. This ambitious project requires close, synchronized collaboration across multiple countries, addressing technological, administrative, political, and financial challenges.
Key priorities include interconnecting nodes, obtaining security and administrative authorizations, and coordinating at the international telecommunications level. By leveraging existing technologies and infrastructure, we aim to develop practical solutions that will lay the foundation for a future inter-European quantum communication network.
If you share our vision and are ready to help shape the future of secure quantum communication, join us!
